Fire danger high in Victoria

The CFA in Victoria is warning that fire danger will increase across much of trhe state on Friday.

Warm, windy weather is predicted, with fire danger tipped to reach very high in the central district, including Melbourne and Geelong, and the central district, north of Melbourne.

AAP reports high fire danger is tipped for the rest of the state.

CFA duty officer Tony O'Day said on Thursday that despite being well into autumn, much of Victoria is still dry after below-average rainfall during the past month.

The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting 20 degrees in Melbourne on Friday, with low humidity and winds.
