British actor Michael Le Vell has pleaded not guilty to a series of child sex offences.

The actor, who has played mechanic Kevin Webster in Coronation Street for 30 years, answered not guilty as each of 19 individual charges were put to him during a brief hearing at Manchester Crown Court on Friday.

He was charged under his real name of Michael Turner, 48, who was first arrested in September 2011, but the matter was later dropped.

The charges relate to one complainant and all the incidents took place between September 2002 - September 2010. The trial will begin on 2 September.

The actor split from his wife last year.
