Australian foreign minister Bob Carr intends to seek and serve a further federal term in the Senate.
AAP reports his current term expires in June 2014, but Senator Carr, 65, says he plans to serve a further six-year term.
"And then I'm going to keep seeking them," the former New South Wales premier told Sky News on Sunday.
He ruled out a News Ltd report that a deal has been struck whereby he would exit the Senate and make way for NSW Labor Party secretary Sam Dastyari.
"Emphatically not," he said.
He denied discussions of a deal had taken place behind party doors.
