Kremlin agency may go back to typewriters

The Russian agency responsible for security in the Kremlin is reported to be planning to go back to using old-fashioned typewriters in order to prevent leaks.

The Izvestia newspaper, which is close to the government, says the move was prompted by the publication of classified documents by whistleblowing website Wikileaks and more recently by American intelligence contractor Edward Snowden on the US Prism surveillance system.

Both accessed the material through computers, the BBC reports.

The paper says typewriters have already been used for some reports prepared for President Vladimir Putin.
