In Australia, the governing Labor Party and Coalition-opposition, are neck and neck after the latest Nielsen opinion poll.
The poll says the two major parties both have 50% of the two-party preferred vote - a seven-point gain for Kevin Rudd's Labor on last month's result.
Mr Rudd, who was reinstated as Labor leader recently, leads Coalition leader, Tony Abbott, as preferred prime minister 55% to 41%.
The poll was published after the Government confirmed it would scrap the carbon tax, and move to an emissions trading scheme next year - one year earlier than originally planned.
