Planes collide on Melbourne tarmac

An investigation is underway into a collision involving two passenger planes on the tarmac at Melbourne Airport.

An airport spokesperson says the wing of a Virgin Australia plane clipped a Jetstar aircraft as it was pushing back to get ready for take off about 9.30am on Saturday.

The planes were damaged but no-one was hurt, the ABC reports.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau is looking into the accident.
