United Nations inspectors are investigating seven new alleged chemical weapon attacks in Syria, including three that happened after August attack that sparked military threats from the United States.
The UN has confirmed that its inspectors, who are already in Damascus investigating the 21 August attack that killed more than 1400 people, are looking at new chemical weapons allegations.
The inspectors hope to finish their investigations by Monday, before preparing what they say will be a comprehensive report by late October.
The news comes as the United Nations Security Council prepares to vote on a draft resolution to eliminate Syria's stockpiles.
Chemical weapons watchdog the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, based in the Hague, is also preparing to vote on a plan detailing how the country's chemical weapons would be located and destroyed.
Once the two votes take place, the work can begin in earnest and preliminary inspections to get the process started could begin as early as Tuesday, the BBC reports.
The Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons is expected to ask for urgent funding and additional personnel to carry out the work.
