Accused deny British soldier's killing

Two Muslim converts have pleaded not guilty to murdering a British soldier in broad daylight on a busy London street in May.

Drummer Lee Rigby, a veteran of the war in Afghanistan, was hacked to death near army barracks in Woolwich in southeast London.

Michael Adebolajo and Michael Adebowale, who were arrested at the scene, appeared by videolink at London's Old Bailey criminal court where they denied murdering Drummer Rigby, conspiring to murder a police officer and attempting to murder of a police officer.

The two men spoke only to confirm their names with both also using their Islamic names - Mujahid Abu Hamza and Ismail Ibn Abdullah, Reuters reports.

Their trial is due to start on 18 November.

Drummer Rigby's widow Rebecca Rigby broke down in tears as she watched the hearing.
