FIFA looking for decisive results at future World Cups

FIFA is considering scrapping drawn games from the group stages of the World Cup finals.

President Sepp Blatter wants to put an end to defensive-minded teams playing to get a draw in the early games of the sport's showcase tournament.

He told a German weekly, Focus, that games would proceed directly to penalties if there was no winner after 90 minutes of play.

Blatter said another possibility would be to revive the golden goal scenario.

New Zealand was the only team undefeated at this year's World Cup in South Africa, drawing all its games in the group stage. However, the All Whites failed to go on to the next round.

The next World Cup will be held in Brazil in 2014.
