No verdict yet in Cairns trial

6:57 am on 28 November 2015

The jury in Chris Cairns' perjury trial in London has still not reached a verdict and has stopped deliberations until Monday morning.

Earlier the judge told the jurors they could now deliver a majority verdict after they said they could not reach a unanimous one.

Justice Sweeney told the seven women and five men at least ten of them must agree on the verdict for all charges.

They have been considering two charges against Cairns and one against his co-defendant Andrew Fitch-Holland for nine hours and forty-five minutes so far.

The former Black Cap has been on trial in London for the past eight weeks accused of lying under oath about match fixing during a libel case in 2012.

He is also charged with perverting the course of justice along with his friend Mr Fitch-Holland, an English barrister.
