US rock band Eagles of Death Metal have appeared on stage in Paris, less than a month after deadly attacks during their performance in the French capital.

Three gunmen stormed the Eagles of Death Metal concert at the Bataclan theatre on 13 November, killing 90 people. It was one of a series of co-ordinated attacks in the French capital that left a total of 130 people dead. Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attacks.

The band took to the stage to perform at the end of a U2 concert at the AccorHotels Arena this morning (NZT).

"They were robbed of their stage three weeks ago and we would like to offer them ours tonight," said U2 singer Bono.

Bono embraced Eagles of Death Metal singer Jesse Hughes ahead of an emotional rendition of Patti Smith's People Have The Power.

An appearance by the Eagles of Death Metal at the 16,000-capacity arena had been rumoured, although U2 earlier released a statement saying that was incorrect.

The U2 concerts had been slated for 14 and 15 November but were rescheduled after the terrorist attacks.

All of the Eagles of Death Metal band members escaped the attack unhurt, but Hughes revealed last week he came face to face with one of the gunmen as he was trying to escape the onslaught.

The singer said the man brought the gun down on him but the barrel hit a doorframe.
