A submarine carrying three tons of cocaine has been discovered near the remote Galapagos Islands.
Ecuadorian officials said three crew members were arrested after the vessel had mechanical problems near the maritime boundary with Colombia.
Anti-narcotics agents from both Ecuador and Colombia, with the help of American aircraft, had been pursuing the vessel, which was described as a handcrafted semi-submersible.
The shipment was thought to be destined for the US market.
