At least 125 people are dead or missing in northern Vietnam after heavy rains from tropical storm Kammuri triggered widespread flash floods and landslides.

Thousands of troops, police and emergency personnel have been rushed to the mountainous region to deliver water, food and medicines to people stranded on the roofs of their houses.

Two days after the rains first hit the area, 86 people are confirmed dead and 39 listed as missing.

The worst affected province is Lao Cai bordering China.
