Scottish seagulls shoplift chips

10:35 pm on 23 August 2008

The Scottish government says it is setting up an anti-seagull squad to tackle the growing problem of aggressive gulls in town centres.

In one case, delinquent birds dive-bombed a newspaper delivery boy.

In another, a seagull was filmed walking into a shop and stealing bags of chips.

Scotland's environment minister says it's time to be tough on seagulls and the cause of seagulls, so their nests will be destroyed in the breeding season next spring.
