NGOs deny sparking violence in Kenya

Non-governmental organisations in Kenya deny accusations they were responsible for sparking the violence that followed a disputed presidential election in December.

The BBC reports the accusations were made by a committee set up to investigate the post-election violence.

Meanwhile, annual inflation rose to 27.6% in August from 26.5% in the previous month - mainly because of fuel increases.

The Kenya National Bureau of Statistics said on Friday that the underlying inflation rate, which excludes food items from the consumer price index basket, also increased to 13.1% from 12.2%.
