Attack of the wild: The snake, the bear and the shark

A Colarado local can now lay claim to an unlikely 'achievement', after being bitten by a rattlenake, attacked by a bear, and most recently bitten by a shark.

It's said that good things come in threes, and that can be the case with bad things too.

Dylan McWilliams, 20, from Colorado loves the outdoors, but the world of nature has clearly not reciprocated.

Three years ago, he was bitten by a rattlesnake.

Last summer, he woke up while camping to find a bear crunching on his head.

And last week while swimming in Hawaii, he was attacked by a shark.

Mr McWilliams, who is still in Hawaii, told Morning Report the worst of the three was probably the bear attack.

"I woke up and the bear had the back of the head and was just dragging me away...It was pretty scary."

He had to poke the bear in the eyes and punch him in the face to scare the creature away.

When it came to the shark, that was just as scary.

"It was so fast, the shark, all I could do was kick at it...I didn't know where it was - I just saw blood all around me."

As to the rattlesnake, he had been taught during Search and Rescue training that 60 percent of bites are "dry bites" that did not contain any venom.

He was lucky enough to receive a dry bite but he still got a little bit sick, he said.

The attacks would not put him off the outdoors, however.

"I think I just spend so much time out here. I was just in the wrong spot at the wrong time."
