Christchurch parties meet over planned development

10:57 am on 23 September 2008

Christchurch International Airport officials met landowners on Monday night in an attempt to resolve a dispute over development around the airport.

Some landowners want guidelines relaxed to allow them to build closer to the runway.

However, the airport company says if development gets too close to the runways, they may be faced with noise complaints, and an operating curfew in the future.

Both the airport company and the landowners say they are willing to listen to the other side and they plan to meet again in the coming weeks to discuss the issue further.
