Zimbabwe's opposition party says talks with the President, Robert Mugabe, have failed to produce an agreement on cabinet posts.

A Movement for Democratic Change spokesperson, Nelson Chamisa, accused Mr Mugabe of demanding all the key ministries for his Zanu-PF party.

He was speaking after a meeting between the MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai and President Mugabe.

A power-sharing deal was signed two weeks ago to end the political crisis.

Under the plan, Mr Mugabe will remain president, while Mr Tsvangirai will become prime minister.

But Mr Chamisa says the sides remain far apart on the issue of who should control which ministries.

The hope is a new government can overcome the economic crisis, with inflation officially about 11 million percent.

Meanwhile, the UN's humanitarian chief says about half the population of Zimbabwe could soon be in need of constant food aid and medical assistance.

John Holmes says three million people are already reliant on aid, and that could rise to five million. He said the situation was already grave and deteriorating.

However, he acknowledged that access for aid agencies had improved greatly since the power-sharing deal was signed two weeks ago.
