Manly crush Storm to take NRL Grand Final

9:49 pm on 5 October 2008

Manly put Melbourne to the sword to clinch their first premiership in 12 years with a record-setting 40-0 NRL grand final win in Sydney on Saturday night.

The Sea Eagles ran in eight tries to avenge last year's 34-8 grand final capitulation to the Storm.

It was the biggest winning margin in 55 years of grand finals.

Manly gave England-bound club legend Steve Menzies a fairytale send-off in his record-equalling 349th premiership game - all with the same club.

Fittingly, Menzies signed off with his 180th try late in the final.
