A trial date has been set for murder-accused Nai Yin Xue at the High Court in Auckland.

Mr Xue, 54, is accused of killing his wife Anan Liu, 27, before abandoning his daughter Qian Xun Xue, aged three, at a railway station in Melbourne on 15 September 2007.

He then travelled to the United States.

After six months at large, he was captured by members of the Chinese community in Atlanta, Georgia, on 28 February 2008 and deported.

He arrived back in New Zealand on 10 March.

The trial has been scheduled for June next year and is expected to take three weeks.
