Rescuers save nearly all trapped coal miners

Rescuers in central China have saved all but two of 34 coal miners who were trapped by an underground flood.

China's official Xinhua news agency says one man died and another is still missing at the colliery in Henan province.

The report says the mine had been operating illegally and the owner has been detained.

At the same time, Xinhua says there is now little hope of finding 14 people still missing after a subway tunnel collapse in the eastern city of Hangzhou.

Seven people are confirmed dead after the half-built tunnel collapsed and numerous vehicles, including a public bus, fell into the enormous chasm.
