All Blacks snatch late victory over Munster

9:58 pm on 19 November 2008

History almost repeated itself on Tuesday, when Irish provincial team Munster took the All Blacks to within a whisker of defeat.

But the luck was not with the Irish, and the team's 1978 win over New Zealand will remain its greatest accomplishment for now.

The All Blacks beat Munster 18-16 after trailing for most of the match at Thomond Park in Limerick.

Wing Joe Rokocoko scored the winning try for the All Blacks, with just four minutes of the match to be played. The New Zealanders were down 16-10 at half-time.

Munster last beat the All Blacks, 12-0, on 31 October, 1978.

The All Blacks' next match is against Wales in Cardiff on Saturday.

They face England in London on 30 November.
