Emergency crews have found the body of a four-year-old girl who was swept away after an inflatable retaining wall burst in central Queensland.

The girl was swept down the MacKenzie River near Blackwater when the water bladder, holding at least 6,000 megalitres of water, ruptured on Sunday.

Search crews found her body on Monday about 800 metres downstream from the weir.

Police say it is believed the girl was with her mother and two adult friends, when they were swept away by the water.

A State Emergency Service flood boat rescued the adults on Sunday night, with one woman found clinging to a tree.
