UK police target homesick officers

3:16 pm on 18 December 2008

Homesick British bobbies who have left to work in countries including New Zealand are being tempted back home with nearly $30,000 and a reminder of the pleasures of real ale.

Leicestershire Police has begun fighting back after years of seeing its officers leave for sunnier climates, with an advertising campaign in Australia.

It boasts it is one of the best performing police forces in the UK, with a vibrant multi-cultural city, thriving rural areas and no deadly spiders.

The force is offering a relocation package of up to Stg 10,000.

Leicestershire Police says British officers might be missing English tea, a white Christmas, real ale and budget holidays in Europe.
