'Zimbabwe is mine' says Mugabe

President Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe says he will never surrender and that he is not intimidated by calls to step down.

The veteran leader has told his ruling ZANU-PF party's annual conference on Friday that "Zimbabwe is mine" and he will remain until his people decide to change him.

Mr Mugabe, 84, said earlier this year only God could remove him from office.

He also denounced Western governments who have stepped up criticism of his regime since an outbreak of cholera there. "What a pack of lies," he said.

According to United Nations figures, the disease has so far killed more than 1100 people.
