Half million replies to Obama campaign survey

5:12 pm on 20 December 2008

More than half a million people have responded to an online survey asking for feedback on what Barack Obama should do as president of the United States.

In an email to supporters, campaign manager David Plouffe on Friday described the response by 550,000 as "remarkable".

He called it "the most powerful and effective grassroots movement in America."

The Obama election campaign distributed a detailed four-page online survey by email a month ago to millions of supporters, asking what issues were important to them, whether they would like to remain politically involved, whether they would be interested in running for office and other questions.

Mr Obama will be sworn in as president on 20 January.
