Fiji's interim prime minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama, has used his New Year address to call on Fijians to, in his words, break free of the past.
He urged people to join his efforts to modernise Fiji by standing up to what he calls the old elite.
In the message, Commodore Bainimarama said some people were still working behind the scenes to undermine the coming together of the people.
