Garuda crash appeal lodged

Prosecutors in Indonesia have lodged an appeal against the quashing of an airline pilot's conviction over a crash which killed 21 people.

Marwoto Komar was found guilty of criminal negligence and jailed for two years over the 2007 crash of a Garuda airlines plane at Yogyakarta airport.

The conviction was overturned last month, and that decision is now being challenged in Indonesia's Supreme Court.

The pilot blames the crash of the Boeing 737 he was flying on mechanical problems.
