The trial of the journalist who hurled his shoes at the United States President George Bush will start on 31 December, says an Iraqi judge.
Muntazer al-Zaidi is accused of "aggression against a foreign head of state during an official visit", an offence that carries a prison term of between five and 15 years under Iraqi law.
Mr Zaidi, 29, became a hero to many when he threw his shoes - an action considered a grave insult in the Arab world - at Mr Bush during the president's surprise visit to Iraq last week .
