Giorgio Armani says he will never sell his fashion empire and he has no plans to hand over any of his workload.

The designer has recently delegated more responsibility to non-family members and last month said there comes a time when you must hand it over.

Armani, 75, is preparing to launch his autumn/winter line and now says he has no plans to sell or to step aside.

The business is worth $US2.4 billion per year in sales.
