Eastern emissions down

10:09 am on 18 January 2010

A new report reveals that greenhouse gas emissions have fallen by almost 2% across the eastern states of Australia.

The greenhouse indicator annual report shows a reduction in coal, natural gas and petroleum emissions of 5.3 million tonnes in 2009 over the previous year.

The Climate Group - an environmental organisation that produced the figures - says the declines were registered in South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.
