Fiji military warns against anti-government behaviour

9:57 pm on 20 January 2010

Fiji citizens are again being warned to behave and watch what they say, with the military telling people it will not tolerate any anti-government activities.

The Land Force commander, Brigadier-General Pita Driti, says the interim government will hunt down detractors and make sure they are taken to task for their words or actions.

He says people should be careful because, under the emergency regulation, the military and security forces retain absolute control in Fiji.

Emergency rule was last renewed in the country two weeks ago.
