Gunmen in Mexico have killed 13 people at a party attended by students in the city of Ciudad Juarez.

At least two adults and 11 teenagers died as the attackers fired indiscriminately on dozens of people.

Witnesses said the gunmen drove up to the house early on Sunday in several cars and began shooting.

At least 15 other people died in the city, on the US border, at the weekend.

Ciudad Juarez is the scene of a vicious ongoing turf war between rival cartels.

The BBC reports some 45,000 troops and extra police have been deployed to crack down on the gangs.

More than 7000 people reportedly died in drug-related violence in Mexico last year.
