Australian opposition issues climate change policy

The Opposition in Australia says greed will drive big polluters to cut their greenhouse gas emissions under its new climate change policy.

The Opposition has placed a $A1 billion emissions reduction fund at the heart of its new climate change policy.

The ABC reports the measures include planting 20 million trees, incentives to roll out 1 million solar panels, storing carbon in the soil, and purchasing cleaner power stations.

The Opposition says the plan is simpler, cheaper and more effective than the Government's emissions trading scheme.
