Prosecutors in Los Angeles have confirmed for the first time that they will charge the doctor of pop star Michael Jackson in connection with his death.

Dr Conrad Murray, who was with the 50-year-old singer when he died after suffering a cardiac arrest in his Los Angeles mansion last June, is expected to face charges of involuntary manslaughter.

Dr Murray has always maintained he did not prescribe nor administer anything that should have killed the singer. He has been at the centre of a seven-month criminal investigation.
