Two Danish biotechnology companies have announced the development of new enzymes they say should allow agricultural waste to be turned into biofuel at a more competitive price.

Novozymes and Danisco say new production plants are being built to harness the enzymes.

The rival companies say the industry could eventually create more than a million new jobs in the United States alone.
