A small, single-engined plane has crashed into an office building in Austin, Texas.

The building houses offices of the federal tax agency, the IRS.

CNN says the plane hit the second floor of the building in Austin, Texas, on Thursday morning. It exploded and burst into flames.

Two people were taken to hospital and a third is unaccounted for.

The Department of Homeland Security says there is no known link to terrorism.

CNN reported the pilot set his house on fire before stealing the plane and crashing into the building.

Two F-16 fighter aircraft from Ellington Field in Houston were ordered to patrol in response to the crash.
