At least 17 people have been killed in a series of explosions in the Afghan capital, Kabul.
Suicide bombers targeted hotels and private guesthouses in an area popular with foreigners. Nine Indians, a Frenchman and an Italian were among the dead.
The first blast happened early on Friday morning. In subsequent fighting one of the bombers is reported to have blown himself up and two others were killed by police. The Taliban said it was behind the attack.
The BBC reports Kabul has been relatively quiet since 18 January, when Taliban bombers and gunmen attacked government targets and shopping malls, killing 12 people.
The Indian embassy in Kabul was previously attacked in July 2008 and again in October 2009.
