Clashes in South Africa over hip-hop star's bail

Hundreds of angry youths have clashed with police in South Africa after a hip-hop artist charged with murder was granted bail.

Molemo Maarohanye, known as Jub Jub, is accused of killing four school pupils in a car race.

The authorities used a water cannon to disperse the crowd of students, who threw stones at police and into the grounds of the court in Soweto where the musician was freed.

There were similar clashes at the his initial court appearance on Wednesday, when police fired rubber bullets, the BBC reports.

His trial has been set for 7 April.
