France is to send another ship to the territory of Wallis and Futuna with supplies of food following Cyclone Tomas.

The French High Commission in New Caledonia says the warship is due to arrive by Monday. The Jacques Cartier is carrying a month's worth of supplies.

Radio New Zealand International reports Futuna was badly damaged when the cyclone struck in the middle of March: 80% of the crops on Futuna were destroyed.

The cyclone also washed away a road along the northern coast.
