Meat exports suspended by Japan

Japan has suspended all meat exports, including Wagyu beef, after an outbreak of foot and mouth disease in the south of the country.

The ABC reports the outbreak has led to the cull of 85,000 cattle and pigs.

The disease has now spread to more than 110 farms and has forced the slaughter of prized Wagyu breeding stock, which can fetch up $A360 per kg.
