Space shuttle Atlantis ending its service

5:19 am on 25 May 2010

The space shuttle, Atlantis, is on its final voyage to Earth, ending 25 years of service for the American space agency, NASA.

On Sunday, Atlantis completed its last supply mission to the International Space Station.

Russian Soyuz spacecraft will take over most of the supply trips, as NASA is decommissioning its shuttle fleet.

Only two more shuttle flights are to be held: one in September by Discovery and the final by Endeavour in November.
