A kapa haka roopu in Australia will this weekend decide who makes a trip back to New Zealand next year for Te Matatini.
Maori Performing Arts in Australia chairman Isaac Cotter says four Victorian groups, two each from Western Australia and New South Wales and one from Brisbane will battle for the three positions.
The festival at Exhibition Park in Canberra also includes groups from other cultures performing between the Maori items.
The competition ends on Sunday with a Matariki celebration.
