A New Zealand motorcyclist has been killed while competing in the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy motorcycle race.

Paul Dobbs from Pukekohe was 39. He was married with two children.

Dobbs raced with the Auckland Motorcyle Club.

Secretary Phil Bagshaw says he was a very experienced rider who had competed in the annual Isle of Man event many times.

More than 200 motorcyclists have lost their lives on the Isle of Man course since the event began more than 100 years ago.
