Royal wedding in Sweden

Sweden has celebrated a royal wedding between Crown Princess Victoria and a commoner.

Victoria, 32, tied the knot with Daniel Westling, 36, her former fitness trainer, who has assumed the title of Prince Daniel, Duke of Vastergotland.

More than 1200 guests attended the lavish ceremony on Saturday in Stockholm cathedral.

Victoria was escorted down the aisle by her father, King Carl XVI Gustaf. She is first in line to succeed him.

The couple, who met in 2002, later rode through the capital in a horse-drawn carriage as tens of thousands of people lined the streets.

The BBC reports an evening banquet was held at the Royal Palace with guests from around the world.

It is Sweden's first royal wedding since 1976. The monarchy has no political power.
