Missile strike kills four

A missile strike has killed four Taliban fighters and wounded two others in a tribal region of Pakistan near the Afghan border.

Pakistani officials said the missile, fired by an unmanned drone, had destroyed a house near Miranshah in North Waziristan.

A security official told the BBC the house had been used by the group of regional Taliban commander Hafiz Gul Bahadur.

There have been frequent drone raids by the United States in North Waziristan targeting al-Qaeda and Taliban insurgents blamed for attacks in Afghanistan.

Pakistani officials have told the BBC that the US has carried out at least 70 such raids since January. The US does not generally confirm missile attacks by drones.
