Origin claims over undersea oracle

"Paul", an octopus that predicted the outcome of eight World Cup matches correctly, is at the centre of a dispute over his origins.

After correctly "forecasting" the result of all seven of Germany's matches, the octopus chose Spain to win the final - by the usual method of picking a mussel out of one of two flagged boxes in a German aquarium.

The BBC reports his official biography gives his origins as British, but Italians are now laying claim to the undersea oracle.
