Technology company Apple is to give free cases to users of its iPhone4 to address antenna problems, and is offering a full refund if customers are still unhappy with its performance.

The company's CEO, Steve Jobs, has acknowledged that the phone's signal drops when the device is held in a way that obscures the antenna on the lower left-hand corner.

The company's shares have been hit as complaints mount but Steve Jobs said he's committed to his customers, and to fixing the problem.

He also said the company had only heard about the issue 22 days ago had had been working hard since then to understand what the real problem is so it can come up with real solutions.
