Scores killed in NATO-led attack in Afghanistan

8:27 am on 27 July 2010

At least 45 civilians, many women and children, have been killed in a rocket attack by the NATO-led foreign force in Afghanistan.

The attack, last week in the southern Helmand province, happened when civilians crammed into a mud-built house to flee fighting between NATO-led troops and Taliban insurgents, Reuters reports.

Confirmation of the attack by the Afghan government came on a day when tens of thousands of classified United States documents were published by whistleblower website WikiLeaks.
