A woman has reportedly confessed to suffocating her eight new-born children and hiding their bodies in a village in northern France.
The woman and her husband were detained this week when the bodies were found wrapped in plastic bags at two homes in a village 200km north of Paris.
The public prosecutor says Dominique Cottrez, 47, a nurse assistant, has confessed to killing the eight children at birth.
The bodies were discovered after the couple moved house recently.
The prosecutor says she had not told her husband about the pregnancies or her decision to kill the babies.
He has been released but is being investigated for hiding the bodies.
